Frederic Esmonin
By popular demand Frederic Esmonin branched out into Ardeche and procured grapes to compose a broader Pinot Noir vin de France to satisfy his cult following. This wine isn’t from one particular vineyard or village, and so is simply a Pinot Noir of France. This wine is arguably more popular than the estate wine, and showcases fresh red fruits and nice lingering freshness. It drinks more like a young wine than the estate wine. Pair with meaty entrees, cheese, mushrooms, and delicious rich foods.
Located in the Western part of the Northern Rhone, Ardeche is a region that also encompasses the famous appellations of Saint-Joseph and Cornas. This region features a warm Mediterranean climate, benefited by cool northern Mistral winds that travel down the Rhone Valley. Here, pebbly shallow soils with limestone drain freely and stress vines, leading to good concentration in the grapes. This region has a long history of grape growing back to 17th century.Domaine Frederic Esmonin is a highly regarded, family run estate from Burgundy's Gevrey-Chambertain appellation. They have been farming their 10-acres of family vineyards for generations and selling their fruit to the likes of Drouhin, Jadot, and Leroy. In 1988 they began to produce their own labels and bottle under their own name. Access to some of the best vineyard plots in the region is Esmonin's greatest fortunes, including many Grand Cru & Premier Cru parcels. Les Montvrieres Pinot Noir is a classic Burgundy style Pinot Noir with bright red fruit notes of fresh cherry and strawberries. It is bright and smooth in the mouth with nice freshness and layers of flavor delivering excellent length on the palate. A great food pairing with pot roast, roasted chicken, pork chops, seared tuna, mild cheeses and dishes with black truffles and porcini mushrooms. Produced from 100% Pinot Noir.
